Happy New Year everyone.  Hope all is well and everyone had a safe and joyous New Year's holiday.  Finally time to get back to normal, well as normal as one can be with Narcolepsy.  This post has to do with what I talked about last time.  The truth that Narcolepsy isn't taken seriously enough and that most people think it is a huge joke.  I am so tired of individuals making fun and playing it off as if N is nothing but, say a cough or flu type issue.

A friend and fellow narcoleptic found a video on You Tube that says it is about Narcolepsy, and I guess technically it is, because everything in the video happens to a numerous amount of Narcoleptics.  I myself have fallen asleep not once but twice, and had 2 car accidents.  Luckily for me neither accident caused injury on anyone else but me.  Since my second accident I have been diagnosed with N and now I take several meds to both help me sleep better and also help me stay awake.

I will admit my meds help me, but by no means will I leave a normal life.  Easier life to deal with my narcolepsy, but not normal like everyone else.

Best Regards In Health,

Living Narcolpetic

      Hey there.
I was just at a sleeping clinic and the doctor told me I may have narcolopsy. I do have many of the symptoms if not all (the hallucinations, weakness, excessive daytime sleepiness) and they want to put me on medications for a month to see what happens. He prescribed me a med like Ritalin to make me awake, and anti depressant at night. I was wondering if you think meds are a good choice to help deal with narc, or is it just gonna make the situation worst?
I am only 21 so I haven't had that many encounters with drugs and also for me its very hard to go through day to day. Everyone thinks I'm lazy for sleeping so much, or insane for hallucinating in the middle of the night...I even missed an exam last semester because I couldn't wake up.
Anyway I dunno why I am writing so much I guess it would be nice to speak to someone who went through it and understands me.
anyways email me if you want
      have a good one!

Hola, just wanted to say hello, and glad to have found your blog! I think I can really relate to a lot of what you say here. The term Narcolepsy is used so loosely. I see it used so very often in articles I have read, being used as a term for when something is boring, someone passes out drunk, and the list goes on. It really gets on my nerves!

Great to "meet you" here, and I look forward to reading more of your posts.

      Go Easy,
      Ja
